WINEMAKER’S COMMENTS
Viognier (pronounced vee-on-yay) is one of the worlds least planted white wine varieties that’s most notable use is in the white wines of the Rhone Valley in France, but is often blended, hiding its unique characters. Blue Pyrenees planted small experimental plots of this variety in the 1990’s and excited by the results, has undertaken further significant investment in Viognier allowing Blue Pyrenees small volume commercial releases of this intriguing white wine. The 2010 / 2011 grape growing season was cool and wet allowing white varieities such as Viognier to grow healthy vine canopies. Hand picked grapes were cooled overnight then pressed the next morning, with the free run juice being racked to old white French oak barrels for a slow natural fermentation and then 6 months aging with fortnightly yeast stirring.

CELLARING
Can be enjoyed now or cellared with confidence for five years.
