LEYDENS VALE 2010 CABERNET SAUVIGNON

The Leydens Vale series of wines takes their name from John Leyden, one of the original land holders in the Pyrenees region of central / western Victoria in the 1890’s.

REGION
Pyrenees, Western Victoria, Australia.

COLOUR
Vibrant Ruby Red Colour

BOUQUET
Aromas of ripe red berries, regional mint and subtle forest like leafy notes.

PALATE
The palate shows the blackberry fruit and fine tannin of great Cabernet Sauvignon and the touches of mint and eucalypt evident are indicative of the Pyrenees. Twelve months years maturing in French oak barrels has softened the plentiful tannins making this wine very approachable in it's youth but robust enough to cellar mid term.

Winemaker’s Notes
The noble grape Cabernet Sauvignon is perceived by many as the classic red grape variety because it is rich in attractive berry fruit characters plus medium to full bodied in most situations. Indeed the Pyrenees region of Western Victoria does produce attractive Cabernet Sauvignon, especially so in growing seasons like those of 2009/2010. A wet winter and spring were followed by a mild summer and autumn which produced good yields of bright varietal flavoured Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS
Enjoy this wine with red meats, pasta with rich sauces, or with fine cheeses.
